Obituary

Ellen Perdock, age 95, of Washington, Iowa, died Monday, July 9, 2018, at the Halcyon House in Washington following a sudden illness.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, July 12, 2018 in the Morrison Center at Halcyon House with Rev. Bill Warhover officiating. A private interment will be held at Elm Grove Cemetery. Memorials have been established for the Washington Betterment Foundation. Ellen was born January 28, 1923 in Bloomington, Indiana, the daughter of Elmer and Fern (Decker) Hays. She graduated from Cotter High School. Ellen was united in marriage to William Henry "Bill" Perdock on June 20, 1943 in Washington, Iowa.

Ellen was a waitress at Winga's Café and she often helped her parents with farm work. She was a very active member of the United Presbyterian Church in Washington and a member of T.T.T. Ellen was a great seamstress and she enjoyed traveling with her husband, particularly to car conventions across the country. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family.

Ellen is survived by her daughter, Diane Holtaway and husband Bob of Bedminster, New Jersey; daughter-in-law, Betty Hugan and husband Bob of Knoxville, Iowa; and Betty's son Chad. Ellen is also survived by two granddaughters: Christina Holzer and husband Greg of Cary, North Carolina; and Lorraine Holtaway of Lafayette, Indiana; and two great-grandsons: Avery and Oliver Holzer.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bill, in 2015; son, Ron in 1983; and two sisters: Charlotte Mayer and Edith Cannott.
