Ellen Marie Miller, age 84, of Washington, Iowa died Sunday, April 3, 2011 at the Halcyon House in Washington following a short illness.

Celebration of life services will be held 10:30 am Saturday, April 9th at the Jones Eden Funeral Home with Rev. Julie Poulsen officiating. Visitation will begin noon Friday at the Jones Eden Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 4:00 – 7:00 pm Friday evening. Interment will take place at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington, Iowa. Memorials have been established to the Washington Community Y, Halcyon House Good Samaritan Fund or Washington County Hospice. Ellen was born December 16, 1926 in Washington, Iowa the daughter of Ira W. and Edna V. (Fetters) Caldwell. She attended school in Washington and graduated from Washington High School. Ellen was united in marriage to Everette D. Miller on July 6, 1947 in Washington, Iowa.

Ellen was a homemaker and enjoyed raising her family. She attended the United Methodist Church in Washington. She was a member of the Sewettes Club of Washington. She loved spending time with her family and following her grandchildren's many activities. Ellen enjoyed her years at Halcyon House and cherished her many friends.

Ellen is survived by five children including daughter Pamela K. Battey and husband Cork of Muscatine, Iowa; daughter Marla Miller of Orlando, Florida; daughter Lorie Peiffer and husband Don of Washington, Iowa; son Martin Miller and wife Caroline of Omaha, Nebraska; daughter Sheryl Clemetsen and husband Bruce of Albany, Oregon; 13 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren and two sisters Mary Barclay and husband Allen of Sun City Arizona and Marilyn Barnhart of Lancaster, Missouri.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband in 1999.
