Ella Louise Greiner, age 69, of Washington, Iowa, died Sunday, October 21, 2012 at her residence following a battle with cancer.
Celebration of life services will be held 1:30 p.m Wednesday, October 24, 2012 at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home in Washington with Pastor Jim Stiles officiating. Visitation will begin noon Tuesday at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Tuesday. Ella was born April 10, 1943 in Ottumwa, Iowa, the daughter of Clyde Lonzo and Grace (Dennison) Shondel. She attended school in Fairfield, Iowa. Ella was united in marriage to Jerry Lee Greiner on June 16, 1961 in Fairfield, Iowa. He preceded her in death on February 8, 2003.
Ella worked at the McCleery Cumming Calendar Factory for thirty years until her retirement. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Washington. Ella enjoyed going to garage sales, camping, crocheting, spending time with her grandchildren, and the daily coffee time spent visiting with family and friends.
Ella is survived by her son, Phil Greiner and wife Shelley of Washington, Iowa; daughter, Jeri Lynn Buck and husband Mark of Washington, Iowa; six grandchildren, Justin Davis and wife Alisha, Nathan Arnold, Zach Davis, Lindsey Blum and husband Craig, Jerrad Buck and Jace Buck; and one great granddaughter, Laci Blum. She is also survived by seven brothers and sisters including; Anna Wagner of Coralville, Iowa; Albert Shondel and his late wife Lila of Fairfield, Iowa; Mike Shondel and wife Cindy of Fairfield, Iowa; Doug Shondel of Fairfield, Iowa; Charlotte Donahue of Fairfield, Iowa; Tina Scott and husband Roger of Fairfield, Iowa; Sherri Adkins of Ottumwa, Iowa and Larry Shondel of Fairfield, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Jerry Lee; as well as six brothers and sisters; Bobby Shondel, Mabel Shondel, Herb Shondel, Fred Shondel, Clyde Shondel Jr., and Debbie Hedquist.
