Eleanor Rebecca Sanders Timmins, age 73, of Washington, Iowa, died Monday, February 25, 2013, at the M.L. McCreedy Home in Washington.
Celebration of life services will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, February 28, 2013, at the United Methodist Church in Washington with Rev. Jim Stiles officiating. Visitation begins 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 Wednesday evening. Interment will take place at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington, Iowa. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Eleanor R. Eleanor was born November 13, 1939, in Richmond, Virginia the daughter of Keith and Evelyn (Mauck) Sanders. She graduated from Oskaloosa High School in 1958. She later earned her CNA license.
Eleanor worked as a nursing assistant and medication aide. She was employed at the Washington Care Center, the University of Iowa Hospitals and at the Halcyon House where she worked until her retirement. Eleanor was a dedicated health care professional and provided compassionate care to all she touched. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Washington, and was a member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood, Chapter MX. She surrounded herself with family, and enjoyed traveling with her family. She was a loving mother and grandmother who will be greatly missed.
Eleanor is survived by daughter, Patricia Sinn and husband Greg of Washington, Iowa; son, Kevin Timmins and wife Karen Michaeli of Iowa City, Iowa; daughter, Rebecca Sisler and husband Michael of Crystal Lake, Illinois; and daughter, Martha Powers and husband Todd of Dysart, Iowa; eight grandchildren: Alexandria and Bryce Sinn, Rebecca Michaeli, Samuel and Lilli Sisler, Audrey, Henry, and Ava Powers; brother, Kenwood Sanders of Washington, Iowa; brother, Frank Sanders and wife Paula of Boise, Idaho; and sister, Ren Ella Crawford and partner Don Wonderlich of Ollie, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and mother- and father-in-law Harold and Jean Timmins.
