Dwaine William Crawford, age 78, of Washington, Iowa, died Monday, June 10, 2013 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City following a sudden illness.

Celebration of life services will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 13, 2013 at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home with Pastor Jim Stiles officiating. Visitation will being noon Wednesday at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Private family burial will take place at the Elm Grove Cemetery. Dwaine was born October 26, 1934 in Washington, Iowa. He graduated from Washington High School in 1952. Dwaine was united in marriage to Janet Crone on December 30, 1954 in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa.

Dwaine worked at Rath Packing in Columbus Junction, Iowa. He had previously worked construction, and was also employed by McCleery Cumming Company.

He enjoyed woodworking and remodeling homes. He liked being outdoors and doing yard work. He was a very social person who enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren. He was an avid sports fan.

He is survived by his wife, Janet Crawford of Washington, Iowa; daughter Debbie Ponder and husband Joe of St. Louis, Missouri; daughter Nancy Crawford of Washington, Iowa; son Gary Crawford and wife Kathy of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa; son Mark Crawford and wife Beth of Sheboygan Falls, Wisconsin; and daughter Lisa Crawford and husband Roger of Washington, Iowa; thirteen grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brother Ron Crawford and wife Judy of Iowa City, Iowa; sister Carolyn Hickman of Naples, Florida; brother-in-law Todd Crone and wife Cheryl of Washington; and brother-in-law Rick Crone and wife Nettee of Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Dwaine was preceded in death by his parents, son Ronald Crawford, and one granddaughter.
