Duane L. Krotz, age 82, of Washington, Iowa, died Sunday, January 12, 2020, at the United Presbyterian Home in Washington.

Celebration of life services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 15, 2020, at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home with Chaplain Andrew Zuehlke officiating. Calling hours will begin at noon on Wednesday at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Wednesday. Interment with military honors will take place at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established for the Eastern Iowa Honor Flight or the United Presbyterian Home. Duane was born November 20, 1937, on the family farm North of Washington, to Frank and Aneta (Shebeck) Krotz. He attended Jackson Center County School and graduated from Washington High School in 1956. Duane was united in marriage to Beverly Jarvis on October 16, 1960. He served honorably in the United States Army and Army Reserve from 1956 until 1962. He was trained as a Medic and served 16 months in Korea. Duane served as the Company Clerk on a M.A.S.H. unit in the Demilitarized Zone.

He returned to operate the family farm north of Washington. Duane also owned and operated Duane's Repair for many years. He enjoyed fishing, trapping, hunting, playing cards and movies. Duane was a devoted father, grandfather and friend.

He is survived by his wife, Beverly Krotz of Washington, Iowa; daughter, Deb Krotz-Dieleman and husband Jeff of Washington; granddaughter Paige Flotterud and husband Matt of Washington, Iowa; grandson, Chase Dieleman of Ankeny, Iowa; sister, Donna Fritz of Washington Iowa; brother, Larry Krotz and wife Sandra of Washington, Iowa; sister, Joyce Spencer and husband Waldo of Marion, Iowa; brother Myron Krotz and wife Joleen of Riverside, Iowa; as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Dan, in 1981; brother-in-law, Walter Fritz; and nephew, Willy Krotz.
