Douglas Joseph Potter Sr., age 70, of Washington, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at Harvest Acres Nursing Home in Keota.

Doug was born on December 7, 1955, in Washington, Iowa, the son of William and Helen (Voracek) Potter Sr. He graduated from Washington High School in 1974 and later attended Kirkwood Community College. On June 15, 1977, Doug married Kathy Cosper in Washington, Iowa.

Doug was a lifelong resident of Washington and proudly worked at Modine Manufacturing for over 40 years. In his free time, Doug enjoyed building computers and watching wrestling, Star Trek, and The Three Stooges, with Curly being his favorite.

Doug is survived by his wife, Kathy Potter of Washington, Iowa; daughter, Melody (Steven) Lockard of Washington, Iowa; son, Doug (Amanda) Potter Jr. of Newton, Iowa; two grandsons, Kenny Lockard and Nolan Potter; sister, Dixie Speed of Texas; brother, Jim (Marlene) Potter of Marion, Iowa; sister, Teresa Schutte of North Liberty, Iowa; and brother-in-law, Dean Duwa of Ainsworth, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents, infant twin brother, William Potter; sister, Connie Duwa; granddaughter, Brooklyn Potter; nephew, Deon Duwa; and brother-in-law, Tom Speed.
