Douglas L. "Pud" Nardy, age 60, of Washington, Iowa, died Friday, March 30, 2012 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics following a brief illness.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 3, 2012 at St. James Church in Washington with Fr. Troy Richmond officiating. Visitation will begin noon Monday at the Jones Eden Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. Monday. Private family interment will take place at a later date. Doug was born May 31, 1951 in Washington, Iowa the son of Edward L. and Martha Frances (Weeks) Nardy. He graduated from Washington High School in 1969. Doug was married to Nancy Redlinger on October 14, 1972 in Washington.
Doug was a lifetime resident of Washington, Iowa. Following graduation he worked at Fareway Food Store and later at Loveless Allis Chalmers in Washington, Iowa. Doug later worked at John Deere Implement in Kalona, Iowa and was currently working in the Parts Department at Farmers Implement in Washington, Iowa.
He was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Washington, Iowa and a former member of the Washington Jaycees. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed his annual trips to Canada. He especially enjoyed the time he spent with his friends at Clemmons Creek Lodge.
Doug is survived by his son Jason Nardy of St. Louis, Missouri; son Justin Nardy and Julie Hayes of Columbia, Missouri; brother Dennis Nardy and wife Becky of Creston, Iowa; brother Drew Nardy and wife Shari of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; brother Thomas Nardy and Jennifer Frey of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; brother Joseph Nardy of Washington, Iowa; eight nieces and nephews and several aunts and uncles.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, David and Matthew.
