Dorothy Luellen Tapley, age 89, of Brighton, Iowa, died Thursday, March 25, 2021, at Parkview Home in Wellman following a lengthy illness.
The family will be present to receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 30, 2021, at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home. Mask usage and social distancing guidelines will be observed. Private family interment will take place at West Chester Cemetery at a later date. Memorials have been established for the American Heart Association or Parkview Home for the Memory Care Unit. Dorothy was born January 28, 1932, in Dixon, Missouri, the daughter of Benjamin and Eva (Russell) Dewey. She attended country school in Missouri. Dorothy was united in marriage to Dave Lee Tapley.
Dorothy previously lived in Missouri and Oklahoma and has lived in Iowa for almost fifty years. She was a homemaker and enjoyed drawing horses; doing puzzles and word searches and she had a large collection of cuckoo clocks.
She is survived by her son, Dave Lee Tapley Jr.; daughter, Nadine Ward and husband Kevin of Washington, Iowa; daughter, Jenny Oliver and husband Kord of Moulton, Iowa; nine grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. She is also survived by seven siblings: brother, Charles Beal of Mexico, MO; brother, Clarence Beal of Laddonia, MO; brother, Larry Beal of Moberly, MO; brother, Calvin Beal and wife Neoma of Rush Hill, MO; sister, Cora Mae Foster of Iberia, MO; sister, Annie Larock of Midwest City, OK; Darrell Beal and wife Deette of Brighton, Iowa; as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Lois Miller; great grandson, Dylan Lee Matthew Tapley; and seven siblings: Raymond, Lucille, Roger, Helen, James, Frances and Kathryn Beal.
