Dorothy Jean Schultz, age 62, of Brighton, Iowa, died Thursday, April 12, 2012 at the Washington County Hospital following a short illness.
Celebration of life services will be held 1:30 p.m Tuesday, April 17, at the Jones-Eden Funeral Home in Washington with Rev. Stan Bauer officiating. Visitation will begin noon Monday at the Jones Eden Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 5:00 until 8:00 Monday evening. Interment will take place at the Hillcrest Cemetery in Brighton, Iowa. Memorials have been established for a Scholarship in memory of Dorothy Schultz. Dorothy was born October 22, 1949 in Washington, Iowa the daughter of Howard and Helen (Jones) Koch. She attended school in Brighton, Iowa and graduated from Washington High School in 1967. Dorothy was married to and later divorced from Ronald Schultz.
Dorothy lived all of her life in the Brighton area where she farmed the family's Century Farm northwest of Brighton. She worked as a Para Educator at the Washington High School and was currently employed as a Certified Pharmacy Technician at Wal-Mart in Washington, Iowa. She was a member of the Brighton United Church where she served on several committees and taught Sunday School. She was a 4-H leader for many years and enjoyed spending time outside caring for her livestock. Dorothy cherished her family and friends and enjoyed the time they spent together.
She is survived by three daughters; Tammie Schultz of Brighton, Iowa; Rhonda Clough and husband Barry of Lowden, Iowa; Stephanie Schultz of Brighton, Iowa; grandson Braydon Koch Clough; as well as her cherished friends and neighbors.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Donald Koch and special friend, Larry Lauderman.
