Obituary

Dorothy Louise Krebs, age 77, died peacefully on Thursday, October 14, 2021, at the Washington County Hospital surrounded by her children.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home. Calling hours will begin 2:00 p.m. Monday at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 Monday evening. Interment will take place in the Riverside Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established for Hospice of Washington County. Dorothy was born March 7, 1944, in Iowa City, Iowa, the daughter of Emmanuel and Lena (Miller) Swartzendruber. She attended Iowa Mennonite School. Dorothy was united in marriage to Harold Gottlieb Krebs on October 12, 1964, in Raytown, Missouri. Dorothy and Harold lived in Iowa City before moving to the farm where Harold was born, in Riverside, Iowa.

Dorothy was a homemaker and helped her husband on the family farm. She was a woman of deep faith and cherished her Friday morning Bible Studies. She was a collector of owl figurines and enjoyed putting puzzles together with her family. Dorothy loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren and attending their many activities. She was known for her homemade applesauce and was always putting others needs before her own.

She is survived by her daughter, Peggy (David) Miller of Riverside, Iowa; son, Richard (Nicole) Krebs of Lone Tree, Iowa; son, Randy (Andrea) Krebs of Gowrie, Iowa; daughter, Sandra Krebs of Ainsworth, Iowa; daughter, Becky (Alan) Lovetinsky of Washington, Iowa; 14 grandchildren; and 19 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Jane Gingerich of Riverside, IA; sister, Gladys Mast of Jefferson, Oregon; brother, Robert (Doris) Swartzendruber of Iowa City, IA; brother, Glenn (Vicky) Swartzendruber of Bettendorf, IA; sister, Carol Campion of West Branch, IA; and sisters-in-law, LaVonne Swartzendruber of Reno, NV; Judy Swartzendruber of Lone Tree, IA; and Rosalie Krebs (Gene) Hancock of Iowa City, IA.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harold, in 2018; brothers, Harold, Richard and Ron Swartzendruber; sister, Mary Hochstetler; great grandson, Noah Stacy; niece, Kathy Hochstetler; and "outlaws" Frank Hochstetler, Joe Gingerich, Moses Mast and Billy Campion.
