Obituary

Dorothy Lovina Curtis, age 74, of Crawfordsville died Friday June 18, 2010 at the Mercy Hospital in Iowa City following a twelve year battle with emphysema.

Celebration of life services will be held 10:30 am Tuesday June 22, 2010 at the Jones-Eden Funeral Home in Washington with Rev. Nancy Oehler Love officiating. Visitation will begin at 12:00 pm Monday at the Jones - Eden Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm Monday. Interment will take place at the Crawfordsville Cemetery in Crawfordsville on Wednesday June 23, 2010. A memorial has been established to the Cystic Fibrosis Association. Dorothy was born on May 29, 1936 in Brighton, Iowa the daughter of Raymond and Lovina Walton. She graduated from Washington High School in 1954. Dorothy was united in marriage to Charles Curtis on October 1, 1954 at the United Methodist Church in Washington. Dorothy lived in the Prairie Flower district of Washington County and moved to Crawfordsville in 1974. She later moved to Winfield and then returned to Crawfordsville. She was a homemaker and worked for Crane Valve for 25 years. In her earlier years she was a member of the Methodist church in Washington, the Methodist church in Winfield, and later became a member of the United Church in Crawfordsville. Dorothy enjoyed yard sales where she would collect salt and pepper shakers, and music boxes. She especially enjoyed time spent with her family.

Dorothy is survived by her husband Charles Curtis of Crawfordsville; daughter, Terry Todd and husband Danny of Lomax, Illinois; son, Doug Curtis of Crawfordsville; son, Rodney Curtis and wife Vicki of Blakesburg, Iowa; 11 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and 1 sister, June Evanovich of Orlando, Florida.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and 2 sisters, Arlene Sanger and Wanda Martin.
