Dorothy Marie Allison, age 83, of Washington, Iowa was called home to the Lord on Sunday, September 27, 2026, at United Presbyterian Home surrounded by her family.

Dorothy was born June 21, 1943, in Washington, Iowa. She graduated from Washington High School in 1961 and three weeks later married her high school sweetheart, Ronald James Allison, on June 24, 1961, in Washington, Iowa. Together they had two daughters, Kris and Jacki, and lived their entire lives in Washington; nearly 50 years in the same house until Ron’s passing in May of 2023.

Dorothy held many jobs over the years. She worked for Advanced Ross, was an Avon representative, worked at Holton’s Fashions, and drove a paper delivery route for the Washington Evening Journal. She always enjoyed working retail and was so proud of owning and operating Allison’s Junior and Children’s Shop on the south side of the downtown Washington square for many years. After closing the store in 1995, she soon realized how much she missed her customers and working with the public and went to work for Dillard’s in Coral Ridge Mall. She earned many awards for her outstanding sales over the years and always loved meeting new people and seeing her repeat customers.

Dorothy was a member of First Baptist Church. Her faith was very important to her. She always knew one day she and Ron would be reunited, and she was anxiously looking forward to that glorious day. We know she is now finally at peace and no longer struggling with her body and mind that were so very tired and weary.

Ron and Dorothy were members of Shirts and Skirts Square Dance Club and the Silver Buckles Line Dancing Club for many years. They also loved dancing the waltz, polka, and two-step with their numerous friends over the years as well as being silly doing Just Dance with the grandchildren. Ron and Dorothy loved traveling, often to Branson, The Badlands, and to California.

Nano, as she was affectionately called by all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren, enjoyed spending time with her family, attending their school musical and/or sporting events, plays, dance recitals, church celebrations, birthday parties, holiday gatherings, playing board games, sleepovers, back to school shopping trips, trips to the Iowa State Fair, trips to Old Threshers, numerous phone calls and FaceTime videos, and many adventures to Dairy Mart – just to name a few. Even in her last few years when life became more challenging, she was always excited to see her family visit.

Dorothy is survived by her two daughters, Kris (David) Moeller and Jacki (Mike) Williams; grandchildren: Allison (Taylor) McKibbon, Lauren (Joe) Pins, Logan (Arissa) Moeller, Alyk (Zak) Tucker, Grant Williams and Sergio Regalado, and seven (soon to be eight) great-grandchildren: Mary Grace McKibbon and Baby Boy McKibbon due in December, Eliana and Faith Pins, and Grayson, Asher, Merrick, and Adalyn Moeller. She is also survived by two brothers-in-law, Randy Allison and Rudie Allison.
