Doris Ellen Rich, age 98, of Washington, Iowa, died Wednesday, August 15, 2012 at the M.L. McCreedy Home in Washington following a short illness.

Graveside services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 18, 2012, at the Eicher Cemetery in rural Wayland, Iowa with Pastor Harald Gruber officiating. Memorials have been established for the M.L. Doris was born January 30, 1914 in Ottumwa, Iowa the daughter of Marcena and Alley J. (Davis) Mowery. She graduated from Ottumwa High School in 1932. On August 12, 1933, Doris was united in marriage to Irvan John Rich in Ottumwa, Iowa.

She was been a resident of Washington, Iowa since 1948 and had lived previously in Atlantic, Iowa; Dunlap, Iowa; and in California. Doris was a homemaker and had worked as an aide for children with disabilities. Doris enjoyed cooking, sewing and playing the organ and piano.

She is survived by one son, Ron Rich and wife Sandra of Washington, Iowa; one daughter, Sandra Rich of Washington, Iowa; three grandsons, eight great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter.

Doris was preceded in death by parents, her husband in 1989, and one sister, Lenore Musser.
