Doris Reve (Shadduck) Cornelius, age 91, of Washington, Iowa, died Saturday, May 25, 2019, at the University of Iowa Hospital.
Celebration of life services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 17, 2019 at the Timmins Room at Halcyon House with Pastor Jon Rees officiating. The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Monday morning. Private family interment will take place at a later date. Memorials have been established for the Halcyon House Good Samaritan Fund. The Jones & Eden Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Doris was born May 23, 1928, in Hamilton, Missouri, the daughter of Forrest and Elma (Lester) Shadduck. She graduated from High School in Cameron, Missouri. Doris was united in marriage to Clyde Cornelius on April 10, 1948, in Hughesville, Missouri.
Doris and Clyde lived in several different towns in NE Missouri for the first 17 years of their marriage, including St. Joseph. In 1965 they moved to Urbandale, Iowa and then to Waukee, Iowa in 1978. Doris was a homemaker and bookkeeper until her retirement. In 1990 they retired to Warsaw, Missouri. They moved to Washington, Iowa in 2017 to be close to family. Doris excelled in needlework, especially crochet and cross-stitch, and loved singing in church choirs.
She is survived by her husband, Clyde Cornelius of Washington, Iowa; son, Dennis Cornelius of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; daughter, Connie Atwood and husband Chuck of Washington, Iowa; daughter, Sheryl Peitzman and husband Lee of Auburn, Indiana; son, Gary Cornelius and wife Karen of Cumming, Iowa; son, Forrest Cornelius and wife Jan of Cedar Falls, Iowa; nine grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; sister, Ellen Whitmer and husband Gene of Chillicothe, Missouri; sister, Joy Larimer of Centennial, Colorado; and sister-in-law, Merle Shadduck of Peculiar, Missouri.
She was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Bradley Wayne Peitzman; brother, Paul Shadduck; and daughter-in-law, Alice Cornelius.
