Donna B. Orris, age 95, of Washington, Iowa, died Sunday, February 12, 2023, at the United Presbyterian Home in Washington.

Celebration of life services will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 25, 2023 at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home with Chaplain Andrew Zuehlke officiating. Calling hours will begin 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 25th at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Interment with military honors will take place at the Elm Grove Cemetery. Donna was born October 2, 1927, in Washington County, Iowa, the daughter of Ralph W. and Hazel Alma (Whetstine) Boyd. She attended country school near Haskins, Iowa, and graduated from Cotter High School in 1945. Donna attended Mercy School of Nursing in Iowa City as part of the Nurse Cadet Corps, where she served honorably during World War II. She was united in marriage to Mike Orris on January 25, 1949 in Washington County, Iowa.

Donna was a Registered Nurse for many years where she worked at the Washington County Hospital and was a nurse for Dr. McCreedy. Donna took a break to raise her family and later returned to work for Dr. Nemmers. Donna was a member of P.E.O., Fortnightly and the United Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed sewing and reading.

She is survived by daughter, Susan Mertz and husband Frank of Webster, Iowa; son, Thomas Orris and wife Mary of Lonedell, Missouri; son, David Orris and wife Chele of Englewood, Florida; five grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and sister, Gladys Orris of Iowa City, Iowa; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Mike in 2019; and infant daughter Carol Christine Orris in 1967.
