Donald C. Gardner, age 98, of Washington, Iowa, passed away Friday, June 27, 2025, at the Halcyon House in Washington.

Graveside services with military honors will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at Grace Hill Cemetery in rural Washington County, with Pastor Tim Johnson officiating. Don was born February 17, 1927, in Kenmare, North Dakota, the son of Timothy and Julia Olgena Klinginburg (Hillestead) Gardner. He attended school in Kenmare graduating from Kenmare High School in 1945. Don served honorably in the United States Army where he was stationed in Japan. He was married to Beatrice V. Gingerich on January 23, 1998, in Arvada, Colorado.

Don was an electrician and wired missiles at various missile sites across the Unites States. Following his retirement, he lived in Arizona for 15 years and Colorado for seven years. Don and Bea moved to Washington, Iowa, in 2024.

Don is survived by his wife, Bea Gardner of Washington, Iowa; son, Thomas Gardner of Milford, New Jersey; daughter-in-law, Deb Gardner of Castle Rock, Colorado; grandson, Aaron Gardner; granddaughter, Amanda Toler; and two great-grandsons.

Don was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Lynn Paula Gardner; and sons, Timothy and Rex Gardner.
