Don Scott Griswold, age 59, of Washington, Iowa, died Tuesday, December 17, 2013, at his residence following a lengthy illness.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, December 20, 2013, at the Marion Avenue Baptist Church in Washington with Pastor Joseph Brown officiating. Calling hours will begin 12:00 p.m. Thursday at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening. Interment will take place at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington, Iowa. Memorials have been established for Marion Avenue Baptist Church or the American Cancer Society. Don was born October 16, 1954 in Winterset, Iowa, the son of Dr. David M. and Doris (Hollingsworth) Griswold. He attended school in Winterset, Iowa, and graduated from Winterset High School. He received his Business Administration Degree from Northwood University in Midland, Michigan. Don was united in marriage to Barbara Paull on December 30, 1977 in Winterset, Iowa.

Following their marriage, Don and Barb lived in Iowa City, Iowa, where Don worked as an Automotive Parts Manager for Carousel Motors and Wagner Pontiac. After moving to Washington in 1996, Don worked as a CNC Operator at Modine Manufacturing. He was a member of the Marion Avenue Baptist Church. Don was a car enthusiast and enjoyed hunting and attending gun shows. He was a member of Kiwanis International while living in Winterset.

Don is survived by his wife, Barbara Griswold of Washington, Iowa; daughter, Emily (Griswold) Leet and husband Christopher of Washington, Iowa; son, Michael Griswold and wife Rebekah of Washington, Iowa; four grandchildren; and one brother, David Griswold III of Washington, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
