Dennis E. “Denny” Norton, age 78, of Washington, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at his residence under hospice care.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, May 29, 2026, at Elm Grove Cemetery, with Pastor Erin Kaye officiating. Memorials have been established for Hospice of Washington County. Online condolences may be sent for Denny’s family at www.jonesfh.com

Denny was born, October 2, 1947, in Washington, Iowa, the son of Harold L. and Mary C. (Carey) Norton. Denny attended school in Washington, graduating from Washington High School in 1966.

Denny worked at Perfex Manufacturing in Washington, Iowa, and Sitler Electric Supply in Washington for 25 years. He owned the Wagon Wheel for eleven years until his retirement. Denny was a member of United Presbyterian Church in Washington. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards and backyard fish fries with his friends. Denny also loved watching old westerns and MASH on TV. He was an avid fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes and Chicago Cubs.

He is survived by his daughter, Lynn Norton (Denise Dickerson) of Carrollton, Texas; daughter, Annie (Mike) Massey of Dawsonville, Georgia; son, Troy (Barb) Norton of Ridgeway, Missouri; six grandchildren: Robert Lee, Jessica Emily, Walker, Phylicia and Stephen; seven great-grandchildren: Hudson, Scarlett, Sutton, Flynn, Liam, Calum and Lilith; sister, Cathy (Steve) Whisler of Washington, Iowa; three nieces: Niki (Mike) Martens, Cori (Matt) Vogel, and Krisi (Phil) Morris; nephew, Jason (Tiffany) Whisler; 10 great nieces and nephews and 10 great great-nieces and nephews.

Denny was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Mary Norton; and an infant brother, Harold L. Norton Jr.
