Delmar Lee Jaspering, age 74, of Washington, Iowa, died Friday, February 24, 2012 at his residence following a lengthy illness.
Celebration of life services will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 28, at the Assembly of God Church with Pastor Jim Cluney officiating. Visitation will begin noon Monday at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 Monday evening. Interment will take place at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington, Iowa. Memorials have been established for Hospice of Washington County. Delmar was born June 10, 1937 in Old Monroe, Missouri, the son of Walter and Gilberta (Woodson) Jaspering. He attended school in Moscow Mills, Missouri and graduated from Washington High School in 1955. He was united in marriage to Connie DeProw on October 17, 1984.
Delmar lived all of his adult life in Washington, Iowa where he worked as a Tool and Die Engineer at Washington Manufacturing until his retirement in 2000. Delmar was an avid fisherman and also enjoyed hunting and woodworking.
He is survived by his wife, Connie Jaspering of Washington, Iowa; son, Steve W. Jaspering and wife Dorothy of Huntsville, Alabama; daughter, Marilyn Jaspering of Washington, Iowa; son, Dean Jaspering and wife Lori of Washington, Iowa; eight grandchildren: Jim Jaspering; Jennifer Klein and husband Brad; Greg Jaspering; Aaron Lucy and wife Kim; Samuel Jaspering; Jordan Jaspering and wife Amber; Tyler Jaspering; and Chayse Jaspering; four great-grandchildren: Garrett, Grant, Gavin, and Gunnar Klein; step-son, Brad DeProw of Warrenton, Missouri; two step-grandchildren: Dillon and Madison DeProw; and one brother Kenneth Jaspering and wife Sandy of Foley, Missouri.
Delmar was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother Tony Jaspering.
