David Sebastian Riness, age 31, of Hamilton, Texas, formerly of Washington, Iowa, passed away the morning of Wednesday, March 19, 2025, due to smoke inhalation.

David was born on September 9, 1993, in Washington, Iowa, to Felicia Riness and Jerry Guengerich. He graduated from Washington High School in 2010 at the age of sixteen years old. David attended Indian Hills Community College in Ottumwa before enlisting in the Army. He completed Basic Training but later had a medical discharge. He enjoyed playing guitar, collecting knives, hanging out with his friends, and going to work out at the fitness center.

David is survived by his mother, Felicia Armstrong (Mike Humphries) of Hamilton Texas; brother, Clayton Humphries of Hamilton, Texas; uncle, Danny Riness of Brighton, Iowa; aunt, Gina Goodwin of Coralville, Iowa; grandmother, Dawn Hesseltine; father, Jerry Guengerich (Angie) of Washington, Iowa; his dad, William Holmes, and two sisters, Elizabeth Holmes and Jessica Holmes; and niece, Iris; along with many great aunts, great uncles, and cousins. David is preceded in death by his grandpa, Jim Hesseltine of Brighton, Iowa, great-grandma, Barbara Mayor, and great-grandpa, Louie Mayor.
