David R. McDaniel, age 65, of New York City, formerly of Washington, Iowa, died Saturday, June 29, 2013 at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York after a brief illness.
A graveside memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington, Iowa with the Reverend George McDaniel officiating. The family will receive friends at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home following the graveside service. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established for the Washington Public Library, the Washington Community Center, or to an organization of the donor's choice. David Ralph McDaniel was born June 15, 1948 in Washington, Iowa the son of Merritt E. and Dolores M. (Keifer) McDaniel. He graduated from Washington High School in 1966, and later earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from St. Ambrose College in 1970.
David had been a resident of New York since 1970. He worked as an actor, and was a member of the Screen Actors Guild and the Actors' Equity Association.
He is survived by two brothers: Rev. George McDaniel of Davenport, Iowa and John McDaniel and wife Jan of Washington, Iowa; aunt Joan Ross of Washington, Iowa; as well as several cousins.
David was preceded in death by his parents; two aunts, Alice McDaniel and Betty Foster; as well as three uncles, Dick Ross, Bud Huot and Bill Foster.
