David M. Griswold III, age 72, of Washington, Iowa, formerly of Macksburg, Iowa, died Sunday, October 31, 2021, at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City.

Celebration of life services will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 3, 2021, at the Penn Center Cemetery in Pitzer, Iowa; with services officiated by Pastor Jack Jackson. David was born February 12, 1949, in Winterset, Iowa, the son of Dr. David M. and Doris (Hollingsworth) Griswold Jr. He graduated from Winterset High School in 1967 and later graduated from Iowa State University. David attended Mercy University in Des Moines. He was married to Laurel Zook. They later divorced.

David worked as a Medical Technologist at Creston Hospital for many years. He also farmed until health forced his early retirement. He enjoyed farming and helping his dad at the sale barn. David was a great cook and enjoyed trying new recipes. He raised horseradish… the hotter the better!

David is survived by his son, Ross Griswold and wife Christine of Des Moines, Iowa; two grandchildren; sister-in-law, Barbara Jackson and husband Pastor Jack Jackson of Batavia, Iowa; niece, Emily Leet and husband Christopher of Riverside, Iowa; nephew, Michael Griswold and wife Rebekah of Washington, Iowa; and ten great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Don.
