David Allen Edgar, age 65, of Crawfordsville, Iowa, passed away Monday, December 4, 2023, at Parkview Nursing Home in Wayland, Iowa.

Celebration of life services will be held in April of 2024 at the United Church of Crawfordsville. A general memorial has been established. The Jones & Eden Funeral Home is assisting David's family with arrangements. Online condolences may be sent for the family at www.jonesfh.com

David was born September 27, 1958, in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, the son of James Allen and Margery Anne (Cherryholmes) Edgar. He graduated from WACO High School in 1977 and attended Northeast Missouri State University in Kirksville, Missouri for one year. David graduated from Iowa Wesleyan College in Mt. Pleasant. He was married to Cheli Chorpening.

David lived most of his life in Crawfordsville, Iowa, having lived in Oklahoma for a short time. He worked at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics, the Ainsworth Four Corners and most recently worked at Orscheln's in Washington.

He is survived by two sons: James Richard Edgar and Jarryd Allen Edgar both of Iowa City, Iowa; sister, Brenda Edgar of Ainsworth, Iowa; brother, Scott Edgar of Iowa City, Iowa; sister, Susan Fiala and husband Dan of Solon, Iowa; as well two nieces, Mary Alice Fiala and Grace Patricia Fiala.

David was preceded in death by his mother in 1996; paternal grandparents, William H. and Mary Alice (Hotle) Edgar; maternal grandparents, Kenneth and Doris (Fletcher) Cherryholmes, and Mildred (Woodburn) Cherryholmes; as well as his uncle, Cleo Dean Cherryholmes.
