David L. Crawford, age 63, of Wayland formerly of Washington died Tuesday January 12, 2010 at Halcyon House in Washington following a battle with cancer.
Celebration of life services will be held 10:30 am Saturday January 16, 2009 at the United Presbyterian Church in Washington with Rev. Kitch Shatzer officiating. Visitation will begin 12:00 pm Friday at the Jones - Eden Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 5:00 - 8:00 pm. Interment will take place at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington. Dave was born on January 2, 1947 in Washington, Iowa the son of Lyle James and Frances Elnora (Amlong) Crawford. He attended school in Washington, Iowa. Dave was united in marriage to Charlotte Goodwin in September of 1966. He later was united in marriage to Joyce V. Edwards on August 12, 1978. Dave worked for Loveless Allis Chambers and later at Farmer's Implement as a diesel technician. Dave worked at the Washington Care Center as the head of maintenance, and later at Halcyon House in the maintenance department. He owned and operated David Crawford General Carpentry for many years. Dave was a longtime member of the United Presbyterian Church in Washington. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, and had a love of carpentry. He especially enjoyed his family and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Dave is survived by his son, David Crawford of New York, New York; son, Danny Crawford of Wayland; daughter, Sara English and husband Mark of Washington; daughter, Stephanie Crawford of Washington; daughter, Shelly Lins and husband Mike of Washington; five grandchildren; his mother, Frances Stackhouse and husband Marvin of Amana; siblings, Thea Walton and husband Bob of Iowa City; Melvin Crawford and wife Carolyn of Amana; Corliss Donovan and husband Mike of Iowa City; and Lyla Erwin and husband Don of Williamsburg; brother-in-law, Jim Krogman of Marengo; brother-in-law, Doug Bringer of Homestead; and sister-in-law RenElla Crawford of Brighton. He is also survived by several step brothers and sisters; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father; two brothers, George and Terry Crawford; and two sisters, Bonnie Krogman and Connie Bringer.
