David James Butler, age 70, of Davenport, Iowa, passed away Friday, February 9, 2024, at the University of Iowa Hospital.

Celebration of life services will be held 1:30 p.m. Saturday, March 16, 2024, at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home. The family will be present to receive friends from noon until time of services. Interment will take place at the Cambrian Cemetery in rural Louisa County. Memorials have been established for Paws and More Animal Shelter in Washington. David was born December 28, 1953, in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of James Leon and Margaret Ann (Hinderman) Butler. He graduated from Washington High School in 1972 and attended the University of Iowa.

David worked for Wilson Concrete in Buffalo, Iowa, which eventually became Lafarge Inc. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed following the Iowa Hawkeyes. He enjoyed playing in a pool league in Davenport and he especially enjoyed the companionship of his dogs.

He is survived by his brother, Stephen (Jaysri) Butler of West Des Moines, Iowa; sister, Margaret (Michael) Gaillard of Canon City, Colorado; sister, Barbara (Stephen) Liebe of Washington, Iowa; three nieces and one nephew.

David was preceded in death by his parents.
