Dana Joy McMullen, age 56, of Washington, Iowa, died Friday, December 30, 2016, at her residence following a long battle with cancer.
Celebration of life services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 7, 2017, at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home in Washington with Pastor Laurel Swartzendruber officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. Saturday. Memorials have been established for the Paws and More Animal Shelter in Washington, Iowa. Dana was born July 6, 1960, in Davenport, Iowa, the daughter of Gayl and Jacque (Briceland) Westphal. She attended school in Davenport, Iowa. Dana was united in marriage to Rodney McMullen on March 25, 1996, in Gillette, Wyoming.
Dana lived most of her adult life in Wyoming. She and Rodney moved to Washington, Iowa, in March of 2015. Dana was a homemaker and owned and operated a mobile home park in Wyoming with her husband. She was known for her big heart and giving spirit. During the holidays, Dana made it her mission to make sure everyone had food to eat and there were presents for all of the children in need. She and Rodney enjoyed going to the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. She enjoyed fishing and camping and loved all animals but especially her dogs, Pooh and Belle.
She is survived by her husband, Rodney McMullen of Washington, Iowa; son, Tyler Means & wife Lynette and their son Ryder, currently stationed in Japan; step daughter, Leah Knobloch & husband Ross and their daughter, Laney of Winterset, Iowa; step son, Kaymn Serna & wife Kristen of Seattle, Washington; brother, Brice Westphal & wife Esther of Davenport, Iowa; sister, Angela Tschopp & husband Bill of Davenport, Iowa; sister, Wendy Jones & husband Mike of Davenport, Iowa; sister, Leslie Broihier of Donahue, Iowa; sister, Kelly Dyer of Davenport, Iowa; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Dana was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents.
