Dale Albert Byerly, age 87, of Ainsworth, Iowa died Wednesday, November 3, 2010 at his residence following a short illness.
Celebration of life services will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday November 8, 2010 at the Ainsworth Community Church with Rev. Kitch Shatzer officiating. Visitation will begin 2:00 p.m. Sunday at the Jones Eden Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Interment with Military Honors will take place at the Oregon Township Cemetery in Ainsworth, Iowa. Dale was born October 28, 1923 in Des Moines County, Iowa the son of Roy Albert and Abbie Elizabeth (Street) Byerly. Dale attended school in Mediapolis and graduated from Mediapolis High School. Following high school, Dale proudly served in the United States Army from 1943 until 1945. He was united in marriage to Ramona Merle Mehaffy on January 14, 1949 in Burlington, Iowa.
Dale was born and raised in Des Moines County and moved to the Ainsworth community in 1950. He farmed all of his life in the Ainsworth area. Dale was an active member of the Ainsworth Community Church.
He is survived by his wife Ramona Byerly of Ainsworth, Iowa; daughter Karen Crossett and husband Robert of Washington, Iowa; son Alan Byerly and wife Sue of Washington, Iowa; son Keith Byerly and wife Cheryl of Ainsworth, Iowa; daughter Marsha Thompson and husband Brad of Yarmouth, Iowa; six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Everett and Dwight Byerly; and one great granddaughter, Tatum.
Dale will be greatly missed by many. He would gladly say though that his life was full, he savored much, good friends, good times, and loved ones' touch. But we all must leave and start anew. Trust in the Lord, He will see you through.
