Obituary

D. Wayne Brock, age 91, of Washington, Iowa, died Monday, February 6, 2023, at the United Presbyterian Home after declining in health.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 10, 2023, at the United Presbyterian Church with Pastor Erin Kaye officiating. Calling hours will begin 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home where the family will be present to receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Interment with military honors will be held at Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington. Delbert Wayne Brock was born April 9, 1931, in Washington, Iowa, the son of Harold Wayne and Eliza Mae (Miller) Brock. He attended school in Washington and graduated from Washington High School in 1950. Wayne was united in marriage to Ann O'Connor on August 26, 1952, in Washington.

Wayne was a life-long resident of Washington, Iowa. He was a Brass Instrument Repairman for 42 years working for Max See Instrument Repair and Dean Kurtz Instrument Repair. Wayne served honorably in the Iowa Army National Guard and Iowa Army Reserves for 34 years. He was in the 34th Army Band where he retired as the Percussion Group Leader. He was a member of the United Presbyterian Church, the Washington Optimist Club, and the Odd Fellows. Wayne was a 75 year member of the Washington Municipal Band and played in the Iowa Military Veteran's Band. He was active in Boy Scouts and Indian Guides and was the town "Santa Claus" for many years. He enjoyed traveling, woodworking, and painting. Wayne was an avid fisherman and enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren.

He is survived by daughter, Marsha (Richard) Platt of Waterloo, Iowa; son, Patrick (Lynne) Brock of Omaha, Nebraska; son, Ronald Brock of Washington, Iowa; son, Larry (Mary Gilchrist) Brock of Washington, Iowa; eight grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren and nine great great grandchildren.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ann in 2008; grandson, Christian Sager Brock; sister, Madge Sabin and infant sister, Millie Brock.
