Corinne Elaine (Nicola) Duvall, age 84, of Washington, Iowa, formerly of West Chester, died Monday, August 11, 2014, in Washington.

Celebration of life services will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, August 15, 2014, at the West Chester United Methodist Church with Pastor Marlene Janssen officiating. Visitation will begin noon Thursday at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 Thursday evening. Interment will take place at the West Chester Cemetery. Memorials have been established for the West Chester Methodist Church. Corinne was born January 3, 1930, in Iowa City, Iowa, the daughter of Harold B. and Lucille (Plummer) Nicola. She graduated from West Chester High School in 1947. Corinne received her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Parsons College in 1971. On August 5, 1950, Corinne married her high school sweetheart, John Duvall.

Corinne taught at New Haven Country School in Washington County and taught Elementary School in Huxley, West Chester and Wellman. She was employed by the Mid Prairie School District for 28 years retiring in 1989. She was an active member of the West Chester United Methodist Church for over 60 years where she was a Sunday School teacher, Bible School director and vice president of the United Methodist Women for 20 years. She was a Scout Den Mother, 4-H Leader, member of Wellman TTT and was a Girl Scout Leader. She and her husband traveled to all fifty states and all continents, except Antarctica. Her favorite trips were to the Great Wall of China, the pyramids in Egypt, and New Zealand. She loved to read about new trips and make plans for a visit. A highlight in Corinne's life was a cruise she enjoyed with her entire family on her 60th wedding anniversary. She loved playing cards and spending time with her family. John and Corinne have lived at the United Presbyterian Home for 5 ½ years.

Survivors include; daughter, Christine Lee and husband Ron of Bella Vista, Arkansas; son, Robert Duvall of Iowa City, Iowa; and daughter, Nancy Wilson and husband Brian of West Chester, Iowa. Her eight grandchildren include Michael Lee of Gilbert, Arizona; Rachel Johnson and husband Jason of Highlands Ranch, Colorado; Nicholas Duvall and wife Leslie of West Chester, Iowa; Jessica Wilson of Fargo, North Dakota; Ashley Wilson of Eldorado, Arkansas; Caleb Wilson and wife Britt of Iowa City, Iowa; Colton Wilson of Iowa City, Iowa; and Claire Wilson of Iowa City, Iowa. She is also survived by eight great-grandchildren; Cole and Abigail Johnson; Isabelle and Quincy Duvall; Mason, Paxton, and Brennan Wilson; and Keely Kuhlemeier. She is also survived by one brother, Harold "Nick" Nicola Jr. of Johnston, Iowa.

Corinne was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in January of 2014, and sister-in-law, Carolyn Nicola.
