Corey Alan Dietz, age 34, of Iowa City, Iowa, formerly of Washington, Iowa, died Thursday, April 9, 2020, in Iowa City.

Due to state and federal guidance on gatherings due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the family will not be having a public memorial at this time.

Celebration of life services will be held at a later date. Interment will take place at Elm Grove Cemetery. A general memorial has been established in memory of Corey. Corey was born October 22, 1985, in Washington, Iowa, the son of Doug and Deborah (Gray) Dietz. He attended school in Washington.

Corey was currently employed at SWA Construction in Iowa City. He enjoyed being outdoors and spending time with his children.

He is survived by two children: Taylor Saige Dietz and Jacob Ryder Dietz of Iowa City, Iowa; father, Doug Dietz of Washington, Iowa; brother, Adam Dietz and wife Alyx of Washington, Iowa; maternal grandparents, Ed and Evelyn Gray of Kannapolis, North Carolina; uncle, Mike Gray and wife Teri of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; uncle, Lee Gray and wife Judy of Concord, North Carolina; and brother-in-law, Zach Hanson of Tiffin, Iowa.

Corey was preceded in death his mom in 2011; sister, Kellie Hanson in 2018; and paternal grandparents, Wilbert Dietz and Patricia Herman.
