Obituary

Constance "Connie" Ann Liebe Bauer, age 85, of Washington, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, April 17, 2024, at Halcyon House.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 25, 2024, at St. James Catholic Church with Fr. Bernie Weir officiating. Calling hours will begin 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 24th at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home where the family will be present to receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Wednesday. Interment will take place at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established for Hospice of Washington County. Connie was born November 6, 1938, in Washington, Iowa, the daughter of Ardell and Modesta (TeBockhorst) Pieper. She graduated from Kalona High School and attended the Mercy School of Nursing in Iowa City. Connie was united in marriage to Ward Liebe on September 28, 1957, at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Richmond, Iowa. Ward passed away on March 9, 1974. Connie was later married to Stan Bauer on December 26, 1987, in Washington, Iowa. Stan preceded Connie in death in 2021.

Connie was raised in the Richmond area and lived in Frytown and Riverside before moving to Washington, Iowa, over fifty years ago. She worked as a Sales Representative for Electrolux Vacuum Company for over 40 years semi-retiring in 2019. She was a member of St. James Catholic Church and attended the Washington Methodist Church with her husband Stan. She was a member of Curves, and volunteered at Hospice of Washington County. Connie loved music, singing and dancing. She enjoyed shopping and traveling and especially enjoyed family get togethers.

She is survived by her son, Jeff (Sandra) Liebe of Paris, Illinois; daughter, Cherie Murphy of Riverside, Iowa; son, Steve (Barb) Liebe of Washington, Iowa; son, Randy (Jacque) Liebe of Woodstock, Georgia; daughter, Michelle (Derrick) Sides of Fruitland, Iowa; daughter, Patti Roth of Riverside, Iowa; ten grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; step daughter, Sheryl (Dan) Shewman of Littleton, Colorado; and siblings: Keith (Joan) Pieper of Napa, California; Kathy Whitman of San Mateo, California; Joe (Brenda) Pieper of Longmont, Colorado; and Mike (Joy) Pieper of Red Bluff, California.

Connie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ward Liebe; husband Stan Bauer; son, Mike Liebe; granddaughter, Alexis Liebe; and step-daughter, Sherry Bauer.
