Obituary

Coleen M. Alonzi, age 62, of Washington, Iowa, formerly of Arizona, died Thursday, August 27, 2020, at Halcyon House in Washington.
Celebration of life services will be held 4:30 p.m. Monday, August 31, 2020, at the Faith Baptist Church in Washington with Pastor Jon Rees officiating. The family will be present to receive friends from 3:00 until 4:30 p.m. at the church. Memorials have been established for Paws and More Animal Shelter. Coleen was born December 12, 1957, in Fairfield, Iowa, the daughter of Harold A. and Joanne Marie (Reed) Luttenegger. She attended school in Fairfield, Iowa, and graduated from high school in Greenway, Arizona. Coleen was united in marriage to Mark Clifford Alonzi in June of 1985 in Glendale, Arizona. He preceded her in death in 2008.
Coleen lived most of her life in Arizona and resided in Colorado for three years before moving to Washington, Iowa, in 2015. She worked as a legal secretary and most recently worked as a Med Aide at Halcyon House. Coleen attended Faith Baptist Church and had numerous interests. She remodeled and renovated three homes, enjoyed working with stained glass, making jewelry, was an excellent seamstress, was an avid reader and collected classic children's books and angel statuary. She was a life long learner and enjoyed taking college classes receiving several Associates Degrees.
She is survived by her son, Jess Alonzi and wife Amanda of Dickinson, North Dakota; two grandchildren, Chloe and Levi of Dickinson, North Dakota; brother, Doug Luttenegger of Phoenix, Arizona; sister, Connie Harrison and husband Evan of Chandler, Arizona; brother, James Luttenegger and wife Leslie of Phoenix, Arizona; brother, Ron Luttenegger and wife Jeanine of Queen Creek, Arizona; sister, Mary Margaret Perez and husband Roberto of Gilbert, Arizona; eight nieces and nephews; and many extended family in southeast Iowa including her special aunt, Rose Ellen Stelton of Washington, Iowa.
Coleen was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
