Obituary

Cloyce Crone, age 97, of Washington, Iowa, died Tuesday, October 29, 2013, at his residence following a brief illness.

Celebration of life services will be held 1:30 p.m. Sunday, November 3, 2013, at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home with Rev. Marlene Janssen officiating. Visitation will begin 9:00 a.m. Saturday at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 Saturday evening. Interment will take place at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington, Iowa. Memorials have been established for Hospice of Washington County or West Chester United Methodist Church. Cloyce was born September 17, 1916 the son of Al and Lillian (Pelly) Crone on a farm east of Washington. He attended country school and later attended Washington High School. Cloyce was united in marriage to Lorene Robertson on October 20, 1938 in Kahoka, Missouri.

Cloyce farmed all of his life in Washington County. He was a member of the West Chester United Methodist Church. He was active in the Beef Producers Board in the 50s and 60s, he was also a member of Farm Bureau where he was active in membership. He was a member of the Lions Club. Cloyce enjoyed visiting with his friends at 5 o'clock coffee at Hardee's and later McDonald's.

He is survived by his daughter, Connie Forinash and husband Mike of West Chester, Iowa; son, Jay Crone and wife Cheri of West Chester, Iowa; grandchildren, Bryan Forinash and wife Janet of Bettendorf, Iowa; Aaron Forinash and wife Janet of Peoria, Illinois; Jeff Crone and fiancée Elise Johnson of Iowa City, Iowa; Brad Crone of Iowa City, Iowa; three great-grandchildren, Bret, Colin, and Dylan Forinash; two sisters: Phyllis Jones and Geri Weeks of Washington, Iowa; niece Phyllis Scott; nephew Tom Crone; many other nieces and nephews; and special friend Jane Kaczinski of Washington, Iowa.

Cloyce was preceded in death by his parents; his wife in 2010; brothers George, John, Lawson, Douglas, and Woodrow; sister Emily Lins; and one nephew, Jack Crone.
