Obituary

Clive M. Klopfenstein, age 75, of Ainsworth, Iowa, died Thursday, January 27, 2011 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City after failing in health for the past two years.

Celebration of life services will be held 10:30 am Tuesday, February 1, at the Ainsworth Community Church in Ainsworth with Rev. Kitch Shatzer officiating. Visitation will begin at 12:00 pm Monday at the Jones - Eden Funeral Home in Washington where the family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 Monday evening. Interment will take place at the Oregon Township Cemetery in Ainsworth. Memorials have been established for the Ainsworth Community Church. Clive was born May 30, 1935 in Washington, Iowa the son of Lafe and Maxine (Mourer) Klopfenstein. He attended school in Ainsworth and graduated from Ainsworth High School in 1953. On August 18, 1973, Clive was united in marriage to Ginny Ellis in West Burlington, Iowa.

Clive farmed all of his life in the Ainsworth community. He later worked at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics. Clive drove a school bus and helped maintain the grounds for Highland Community Schools.

He was an active member of the Ainsworth Community Church where he served as an Elder. He helped lead a Bible Study group at the Correctional Facility in Mt. Pleasant for many years. Clive enjoyed attending and helping with the Emmaus Walk in Cedar Rapids and always enjoyed spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife Ginny Klopfenstein of Ainsworth, Iowa; five daughters; Kathy Kuntz and husband Alan of Mt. Vernon, Iowa; Jeanette Kregel and husband Tim of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Julie Clark and husband Jeff of New London, Minnesota; Teresa Scheitlin of West Burlington, Iowa; Linda Moothart of Lisbon, Iowa; nine grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; his mother, Maxine Klopfenstein of Washington, Iowa; and two brothers Kerm Klopfenstein and Jane of Ainsworth, Iowa; Mike Klopfenstein and wife Pat of Cheyenne, Wyoming. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Clive was preceded in death by his father and an infant brother Gary Lee Klopfenstein.
