Clifford Morris Wheaton, age 82, of Polk City, Florida, formerly of Crawfordsville, Iowa, died Wednesday, April 12, 2017, in Polk City, Florida.
Celebration of life services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 17, 2017, at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home in Washington, Iowa, with services conducted by Larry Fletcher. Calling hours will begin 9:00 a.m. Monday at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. Interment with Military Honors will take place at the Crawfordsville Cemetery in Crawfordsville, Iowa. Clifford was born on November 3, 1934, in Hedrick, Iowa, the son of William Joseph and Isle Beatrice (Franklin) Wheaton. He graduated from Fairfield High School in 1953. Clifford served honorably in the United States Army from 1955 until 1958. He was united in marriage to Mary Linda Edgar on August 31, 1981, in Crawfordsville, Iowa.
Clifford worked as a Fork Truck Operator for Crane Company in Washington, Iowa, for 23 years until his retirement in 1997. He was raised in the Batavia and Hedrick Communities and lived in Richland, Iowa, until moving to Crawfordsville, Iowa, in 1981. He moved to Polk City, Florida, in July of 2016, to live with his daughter.
Clifford was a member of the United Church of Crawfordsville, the Prairie Tractor Pullers, and the Roamin' Hawks Camping Club.
He is survived by his daughter, Janet Waldo and husband Alvin Jr. of Polk City, Florida; son, Michael Wheaton and wife Missy of Missouri; daughter, Kathryn Luke and husband Melvin Jr. of Ollie, Iowa; four grandchildren; six great grandchildren.
Clifford was preceded in death by his parents; and wife Linda in 2009.
