Claribel Ann Woltering, age 91, of Washington, Iowa, died Friday, April 5, 2013 at the All American Care Center in Washington following a lengthy illness.
Mass of the Resurrection will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 9th at St. James Catholic Church in Washington with Fr. Troy Richmond officiating. The family will receive friends from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in Tobin Hall at St. James Catholic Church. Interment will take place at St. Mary's Cemetery in Keota, Iowa. Claribel was born January 8, 1922 in Lee County, Iowa, the daughter of Anthony and Veronica (Conrad) Woltering. She attended school in Keota and Harper, Iowa. Claribel graduated from Viterbo College in Wisconsin and received her Masters Degree from Notre Dame University in Indiana.
She was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Washington, Iowa. She has resided in Washington for the past twenty five years. Claribel formerly lived in Montana, Indiana, Wisconsin and several other states where she taught art. Her last job was at the State Juvenile Home in Toledo where she also taught art and retired after about twenty years.
She is survived by one brother-in-law, Harold Ossman of Washington, Iowa; one sister-in-law, Celeste Woltering of Keota, Iowa as well as many nieces and nephews.
Claribel was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Rev. Omer Woltering, Joe Woltering, Merlin Woltering; and two sisters, Ruthelma Ossman and Mary Martha Woltering.
