Obituary

Clara Anne Pearson, age 87, of Washington, Iowa, died Thursday, October 28, 2010 at the Washington County Hospital from injuries suffered in a house fire.

Celebration of life services will be held 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, November 3, 2010 at the Jones Eden Funeral Home with Rev. Bob Wollenberg officiating. Visitation will begin noon Tuesday at the Jones Eden Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday. Interment will be at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington. Clara was born December 18, 1922, in Washington County, Iowa the daughter of Donald "Pony" and Harriet (Keck) Huber. After graduating from Washington High School in 1940, she completed Nurses Training at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City. On January 1, 1945 Clara was united in marriage with Robert Pearson in Washington, Iowa.

Clara grew up and lived much of her life on a farm northwest of Washington. During World War II, she worked at various hospitals near where her husband was stationed in the Air Force. She worked several decades at the Washington County Hospital in the Obstetrics (OB) Department until her retirement in 1985. After hours she provided "private duty" care for many families in Washington.

She was a member of the United Presbyterian Church. Clara was a dedicated mother who loved caring for her family, including her son Bobby who needed special attention during his short life. She loved the outdoors, especially her flowers and going fishing or site-seeing with Robert. She was always found doing crossword puzzles. She loved music and would entertain family an friends on flute and piano.

She is survived by her sons Willis "Bill" Pearson and wife Deb of Washington, Iowa; and John "Jack" Pearson and wife Lyn of Beverly, Massachusetts; five grandchildren; two great grandsons; as well as her sister Kathy Conner of Corvallis, Oregon; and three nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1997, an infant son Robert L. "Bobby" Pearson, and two sisters Norma Huber and Mary Helen Huber.
