Charles Edward Hanson, age 89, of Washington, Iowa, passed away Sunday, October 12, 2025, at the Washington County Hospital.

Charles was born May 28, 1936, in Brighton, Iowa, the son of Nels Mansfield and Sylvia Beatrice (Hesseltine) Hanson. He attended school in Brighton, Iowa, and graduated from high school in Little York, Illinois. Charles was united in marriage to Delores Berhenke on August 6, 1960.

Charles lived in Quad Cities area before moving to Washington, Iowa, where he has lived for the past 30 years. He was employed at J.I. Case Company in Rock Island for 28 years and also worked at Red Jacket Pumps in Davenport, Iowa. He served honorably in the United States Marine Corps. Charles enjoyed fishing, crocheting and playing BINGO.

He is survived by his daughter, Roxanne Hanson of Aledo, Illinois; son, Russell (Dawn) Hanson of Moline, Illinois; daughter, Rhonda Kinney of Moline, Illinois; son, Rodney Hanson of Rock Island, Illinois; son, Rex (Kathy) Hanson of Rock Island, Illinois; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; sister, Elzina Miller of Washington, Iowa; brother, Clarence (Pat) Hanson of Washington, Iowa; brother, Jim Hanson of Vancouver, Washington; and sister, Joyce (Jack) Crumley of Washington, Iowa.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Delores Hanson; brother, Irwin Hanson and sister, Beatrice May Hanson.
