E. Cecelia Fenton, age 87, of Washington, Iowa, died Friday, June 22, 2012 at the United Presbyterian Home.
Celebration of life services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, July 6, 2012 in the main dining room of the United Presbyterian Home with Rev. Kitch Shatzer officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. Friday, July 6 at the United Presbyterian Home. Private family interment will take place at Forest Home Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa. Eva Cecelia Boucher was born December 6, 1924, in Lawrence, Massachusetts, the daughter of Wilford Lucien and Eva Grace (Payson) Boucher. She attended school in Lawrence, Massachusetts and later attended EEG Technicians School in Chicago, Illinois. On August 7, 1943, Cecelia was united in marriage to Lewis Marion Fenton at Grenier Field in Manchester, New Hampshire.
Cecelia was raised in Lawrence, Massachusetts and later moved to Mt. Pleasant, Iowa. She lived in California, Iowa City, Iowa, and Holiday Lake, Iowa, before moving to Washington, Iowa. She worked as an EEG Technician for the VA Hospital in Iowa City for 25 years until her retirement in 1975.
She was a member of the Ainsworth Community Church, the VFW Auxiliary, the Red Hat Society, and the Creative Writing Chapter of Fortnightly. Cecelia had a love of animals and was a driving force in the creation of Paws and More Animal Shelter.
She is survived by two daughters, Jacquelyn Lee Shepherd and husband Ned of Bettendorf, Iowa; and Elaine Cecile Moore and husband Mike of Washington, Iowa; as well as seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Cecelia was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Lewis in 2004.
