Carroll J. Reighard, age 91, of Washington, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, November 13, 2019 at the M.L. McCreedy Home in Washington.
Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 16, 2019 at St. James Catholic Church with Fr. Bernie Weir officiating. Calling hours will begin at noon on Friday, November 15, 2019 at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. A prayer service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Friday at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home. Carroll was born July 23, 1928 in Rural Washington County, the son of Clarence and Blanche (Statler) Reighard. He attended country school. Carroll was united in marriage to Lucille June Franzen on October 7, 1949 in Washington.
Carroll was a lifelong resident of Washington. He worked in the Farm Implement Business his whole life, first as a mechanic for Loveless Inc. and later as a salesman for Hennigan, Inc. In his retirement, Carroll owned and operated Mowers Plus in Washington. He was a member of St. James Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus. Carroll collected toy tractors and enjoyed doing carpentry work for Bob Buffington. He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle and gardening.
He is survived by four daughters: Patricia Fritz and husband Larry of Washington, IA; Priscilla Reighard and friend Dale Haifley of Washington, IA; Janet Windus and husband Randy of Atalissa, IA; and Barbara Letcher and husband Kendal of Washington, IA; seven grandchildren: Nick Windus, Cory Windus and wife Emily, Amy Windus, Amanda Potter and husband Doug, Paige Letcher, Jamie Fritz and Jacob Fritz; brother, Gailen Reighard and wife Darlene of Springfield, MO; brother, Wayne Reighard and wife Sally of Washington, IA; sister, Iva Burkett of Iowa City, IA; brother, Roger Reighard and wife Virginia of Ainsworth; and friend, Patti Randall of Coralville, IA.
Carroll was preceded in death by his parents; wife Lucille in 2013; brother, Allen Reighard; sister, Joyce Chance; grandson, Justin Letcher; and great-granddaughter, Brooklyn Potter.
