Carole Jean Rees, age 79, of Washington, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, December 27, 2023, at the United Presbyterian Home.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 5, 2024, at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home with Rev. Kitch Shatzer officiating. The family will be present to receive friends from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will take place at the Cambrian Cemetery in rural Louisa County. Carole Jean was born February 7, 1944, in Muscatine, Iowa, the daughter of Edward and Ivah Lucille (Evans) Rees. She attended school in Crawfordsville, Iowa, and later attended school in Northfield, Minnesota.

Carole was a member of the Salem Welsh Presbyterian Church in rural Columbus Junction and also attended Prairie Flower Baptist Church with Duane and Susan Davis. She liked music, jewelry and spending time with her family. She attended WCDC and worked in the laundry department at Halcyon House. She was a client at Helping Hands and lived in a group home for over 30 years.

She is survived by her twin sister, Cheryl (Bob) Michaelsen of Denton, Texas; 2 nieces, 2 nephews and 7 great nieces and great nephews.

Carole was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Lucille Rees; and one sister, Dorothy Evans.
