IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Bryan "Turbo"
Lasek
April 21, 1960 – March 14, 2026
Visitation
Bryan “Turbo” Lasek, age 65, of Ainsworth, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at his residence surrounded by his family under hospice care, following a courageous three-year battle with cancer.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at the Ainsworth Community Church. According to Turbo’s wishes, there will be no formal service. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established for Hospice of Washington County, Ainsworth Community Church, and the Ainsworth Opera House. Online condolences may be sent for Turbo’s family at www.jonesfh.com
Turbo was born on April 21, 1960, in Ottumwa, Iowa, the son of Raymond and Marjorie “Marge” (Hulen) Lasek. He attended Ainsworth Elementary and graduated from Highland High School in 1978 and served in the United States Army National Guard as a medic. On February 17, 1990, Turbo married Colleen Chalupa in Richmond, Iowa. Colleen was the love of his life. He was so proud of her and his boys Jesse and Blake, or as Turbo called him “Willie”. Then came Preston, who called him grandpa- he was a happy man.
Turbo was a lifelong farmer who raised Black Angus cattle and tended his crops with pride. He was a member of the Washington County Farm Service Agency and served on the county committee from 2005 to 2013. He also served on the board of the Farmers Co-op Association from 2002 to 2011 and was a founder of Ainsworth Annual Great Tractor Ride (AAGTRAI.)
In his younger years he enjoyed river fishing and catching those big flatheads, and fishing trips up north. The fish stories told around the big round table were very entertaining and definitely kept everyone laughing. Turbo’s generosities to others are too numerous to list. He just did what needed to be done without asking for anything in return. Everyone who knew him knew they had a friend for life. He enjoyed taking ranger rides to check his cattle and loved taking people over to see them.
He is survived by his wife, Colleen Lasek of Ainsworth, Iowa; son, Jesse (Betsy) Lasek of Ainsworth, Iowa; son, Blake (Molly Edgar) Lasek of Ainsworth, Iowa; grandson Preston Lasek; and a cousin who was more like a brother, John Downing of Salt Lake City, Utah.
Turbo was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Marge Lasek.
