Brian Charles Howard, age 44, of Washington, Iowa, died Monday, August 16, 2021, at his residence in Washington.

Private graveside services will be held for close friends and family at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington, Iowa. A general memorial has been established. Brian was born August 13, 1977, in La Junta, Colorado, the son of Leland L. and Ruth A. (Greiner) Howard. Brian graduated from Washington High School in 1995.

Brian lived in Santa Cruz, California, and Waterloo, Iowa, before moving back to Washington, Iowa, in 2010. He worked for WICK Construction for a number of years and also worked at meat processing plants in Waterloo and Ottumwa, Iowa. He enjoyed fishing and carpentry work.

He is survived by his mother, Ruth Ann Howard of Washington, Iowa; brother, Michael Howard of Fairfield, Iowa; sister, Jennifer Howard of Fairfield, Iowa; sister, Dawn Krejci and husband Kevin of Lewisville, Texas; brother, Tim Howard and wife Tammy of Washington, Iowa; brother, Jim Howard of Washington, Iowa; and a number of nieces and nephews. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Brian was preceded in death by his father, Leland "Sonny" Howard; brothers, Kelly Howard and Tory Cook; and grandparents: Carl and Alice Greiner, Leland Howard and Verna Purvis.
