Bonnie Lea Kempf, age 64, of Washington, Iowa, died Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics after a battle with cancer.

A time of visitation will begin noon Sunday, February 3, 2013, at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 2:00 until 4:00 Sunday afternoon. Bonnie was born September 9, 1948 in Huron, South Dakota, the daughter of Rubin and Waneta (Wahl) Bittner. She graduated from High School in Alpena, South Dakota. On September 13, 1969, Bonnie was united in marriage to David Kempf in Huron, South Dakota.

Bonnie has resided in Washington, Iowa, for the past six years. She previously lived in Omaha, Nebraska. She worked most of her life as a Secretary in schools and hospitals. She volunteered at the Washington County Hospital Gift Shop.

She loved spending time with her family and friends and especially cherished the time spent with her grandsons. Bonnie enjoyed reading and sewing and shopping was a favorite pastime.

She is survived by her husband Dave Kempf of Washington, Iowa; daughter Kris Kempf and significant other, Jeff Ruby of Keokuk, Iowa; daughter, Kara Sobaski and husband Josh of Packwood, Iowa; two grandsons, Brayden and Carsyn Sobaski of Packwood, Iowa; sister, Betty Olson and husband Allen of Huron, South Dakota; sister, Barbara Noel, of Huron, South Dakota; and several nieces and nephews.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Ben Bittner, two nephews, and an infant niece.
