Obituary

Bonnie Gilbert, age 63, of Packwood, Iowa, formerly of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, died Thursday, April 9, 2020, at the Jefferson County Hospital following a sudden illness.

Due to state and federal guidance on gatherings due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the family will not be having a public memorial at this time.

Private family services will be held 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 14th at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home with Pastor Paul Miller officiating. Services will be livestreamed on the Jones & Eden Facebook page. Private family calling hours will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Monday, April 13th. Interment will take place at the Hillsboro Cemetery in Hillsboro, Iowa. A general memorial has been established. Online condolences may be sent for Bonnie's family through the web at www.jonesfh.com

Bonnie was born March 20, 1957, in Des Moines, Iowa, the daughter of Delbert "Dick" and Ruth (Long) Goodwin. She attended school in Washington, Iowa. Bonnie was married to Danny Gilbert on November 4, 1998.

Bonnie lived in Mt. Pleasant for the past 12 years before moving to Packwood in December of 2019. She was a homemaker and enjoyed puzzles, word searches, coloring and collecting owl memorabilia.

She is survived by her husband, Danny Gilbert of Packwood, Iowa; daughter, Sherry Goodwin of Ottumwa, Iowa; son, Ronnie Wixom and wife Wendi of Bonaparte, Iowa; son Edward Wixom of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa; eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She is also survived by sister, Charlotte Semler and husband Ron of Washington, Iowa; sister, Diane Majors of Concordia, Missouri; brother, Ron Goodwin and wife Arlene of East Pleasant Plain, Iowa; brother, Fred Goodwin of Newton, Iowa; half brother, David Goodwin of Washington, Iowa; and half brother, Don Goodwin of Ainsworth, Iowa.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Richard Wixom; daughter, Mary Wixom; brother, Daryle Goodwin; and two sisters, Sharyle Denison and Sharon Latham.
