Bonnie Rae Applegate, age 68, of Washington, Iowa, died Tuesday, January 23, 2018, at the Halcyon House following a lengthy illness.

Celebration of life services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 26th, at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home in Washington with Pastor Darryl Carr officiating. Calling hours will begin 9:00 a.m. Friday at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. Interment will take place at the Elm Grove Cemetery. Bonnie was born August 10, 1949, in Washington, Iowa, the daughter of Burton G. and Helen (Basinger) Fox. She and her sister Connie were the first set of twins delivered by Dr. Nemmers. She graduated from Highland High School in 1968. She was united in marriage to Robert H. "Bob" Applegate on February 22, 1975, in Riverside, Iowa.

Bonnie was a lifelong resident of Washington, Iowa. Following high school she worked at McCleery Cumming Company until 1983. She assisted her husband on the family farm operation. She enjoyed staying busy on the farm and she helped with the cattle and the sheep. She enjoyed working in the garden and taking her produce to the Farmer's Market. She enjoyed doing latchhook, puzzles, painting ceramics and playing cards. Bonnie was a member of the Washington County Farm Bureau and enjoyed going to Farm Progress Shows and the Iowa State Fair with her husband. She loved her canine companions, Sam and JoJo.

She is survived by her brother, Jerry Fox and his wife Marie of Lowden, South Carolina; sister, Linda Hartwig and her husband Brad of Marion, Iowa; brother-in-law, Roger Reed of Washington, Iowa; brother-in-law, Larry Applegate and his wife Sue of Washington, Iowa; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 2013, her twin sister Connie in 2017, and one niece, Cynthia Fox Beebe.
