Bonita Jo Snider, age 79, of Washington, Iowa, passed away Saturday, August 8, 2026, at the United Presbyterian Home in Washington.

Celebration of life services will be held (date and time) at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home in Washington with Fr. Dane Dickinson officiating. The family will be present to receive friends one hour prior to the service. Private family interment will take place at a later date. Bonita Jo was born May 5, 1947, in Washington, Iowa, the daughter of Cloyce R. and Aileen L. (Welliver) Snider. Bonnie graduated from Washington High School in 1965, She was married to Robert H. Higgins and they later divorced.

Bonnie worked for three years at the East Des Moines National Bank and later worked for eight years at Mid America Energy in Des Moines. She relocated to Oskaloosa where she was employed by Mid America Energy for another five years. Bonnie then moved to Texas where she worked for Wal Mart, the Richmond, Texas Police Department as a 911 Operator, and lastly worked for the Clarksville Texas School System where she worked with children with special needs.

Bonnie served on the Clarksville City Council for five years and volunteered at Cheatum Elementary School and Detroit Elementary School. She also volunteered at the Lenox Health Resource Center and the Red River County Library. Bonnie was proud to have cared for her uncle Bob for 15 years.

She is survived by her son, Jonathan (Aimee) Higgins of Oskaloosa, Iowa; two grandchildren; sister, Jeri “Cookie” Blum of Washington, Iowa; many cousins including Lisa Miller, Susie Young and Tim Miller; and brother-in-law, Larry (Sharon) Blum of Washington, Iowa.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Patricia Adams.
