Robert Lee "Bob" Pfeifer, age 86, of Richland, Iowa, died Wednesday, October 14, 2015, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City following a short illness.

Celebration of life services will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 19, 2015, at the Trinity Friends Church in Richland, Iowa, with Pastor Brad Cranston and Pastor Tim Hadley officiating. Calling hours will begin 1:00 p.m. Sunday at Trinity Friends Church where the family will receive friends from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. Sunday. Interment will take place at the Friends Cemetery in Richland, Iowa. Memorials have been established for the Friends Cemetery Association or Richland First Responders. Bob was born November 17, 1928, in Hayesville, Iowa, the son of Otto Wendell and Lulu (Fritchen) Pfeifer. He graduated from Richland High School in 1946. Bob was united in marriage to Joyce Jones on April 15, 1949, in Richland, Iowa.

Bob was a lifelong resident of Richland, Iowa. He farmed in the Richland community and also drove over the road truck for Kingsbury Homes in Sigourney, Iowa. He hauled grain for local farmers for many years. Bob worked ten years for the City of Richland in the Water Department and as a Night Marshall. Bob volunteered for the Richland Fire Department and was instrumental in starting the Richland First Responders. He attended Trinity Friends Church. Bob loved planting trees and nurturing the trees for his grandchildren to enjoy. He received the Keokuk County Conservation Award for his efforts in tree planting and watershed maintenance.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce Pfeifer of Richland, Iowa; son, David Pfeifer and wife Carolyn of Oskaloosa, Iowa; son, Steven Pfeifer and wife Candy of Richland, Iowa; son, Mark Pfeifer and wife Terry of Gary, Indiana; daughter, Tammy Gardner and husband Doug of Marion, Iowa; 13 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren, one great great grandchild; and one sister, Luella Holmes of Savannah, Illinois.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Timothy, in 2007.
