Robert L. "Bob" Libe, age 85, of Washington, passed away Saturday, August 11, 2018 at the Halcyon House in Washington.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 16, 2018 at Elm Grove Cemetery with Rev. Robert Bell officiating. Calling hours will begin at noon on Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. A memorial has been established for Lending Hands. Robert Lawrence Libe was born October 20, 1932 in Washington, Iowa, the son of Lawrence W. and Mary M. (Kurka) Libe. He graduated from Washington High School in 1951. Bob served honorably in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was united in marriage to Jeanette E. Choate on November 24, 1956 in Washington, Iowa.
Bob lived in Washington his entire life, residing on farms South of Washington for 67 years. He farmed with his brother for 45 years as "Libe Brothers" until his retirement in 1999. Bob was an avid Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears fan, and enjoyed following the Washington Demons sports.
He is survived by his wife, Jeanette Libe of Washington, IA; son, Jeffrey (Janet) Libe of Cedar Rapids, IA; daughter, Tina (Kevin) Blair of Sun City West, AZ; son, Perry (Sonya) Libe of Washington, IA; daughter, Brenda (Brian) Libe-Carey of Aztec, NM; ten grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Donald (Bev) Libe.
